The court was once again packed for our beloved comrade Jakhi. His state case has been adjourned to October 28, 2025.
July 22, 2025:
Jakhi was arraigned the next morning for his state case, and released from Manhattan Criminal Court. He acquired his ankle monitor and went back home safe to his family in New Jersey, determined to fight his outlandish state and federal charges.
July 21, 2025:
Jakhi had negotiated a turn in for the morning of July 21, 2025, a month since the NYPD and the US government came after him. He was arraigned with Judge Vera M. Scanlon surrounded by a fully packed (and overflowing) court filled with family, friends, and comrades who deeply love him. They were all able to share his joy when he was approved for bond and house arrest to his family home.
The prosecutors had appealed the judge’s decision and to their dismay, he was approved for the same conditions again. Due to the consistent embarrassments from the state, the state made a desperate attempt to save face and had arrested Jakhi at the court again, for an alleged vandalism action at Columbia University from 2024. Jakhi had spent the night in Central Bookings.
He was excluded from time until August 25. This means that the indictment clock, where prosecutors have to indict a defendant with a grand jury within 30 days of arraignment, has been paused. Thirty days start from August 25.
